Three years are almost complete and though it has not always been easy, being your Commander has been an honor and privilege. By the time you all read this, Memorial Day has passed and I am certain all the ceremonies and the parade were great. I heard on the news today that a town on the “North Shore” of Massachusetts had to cancel their Memorial Day Parade due to the lack of veterans to participate. That is a shame, Kudos to the Town of Millis. That all being said – I want to extend my most heart-felt thank you to all the Legionnaires who attend morning coffee and monthly meetings – we had over 20 members at coffee this past Thursday (5/23/13). However – I especially want to extend a thank you to the following members: Past Commander Larry McCarter for preparing and giving me a manual on meeting procedures and protocol. Larry – it has been a great help and I will pass it on to the next Commander; Bob Yeager – Adjutant, Finance Officer, and general handyman. Bob – you have always been there when things had to be done and you never once complained – Thanks so much. Your participation has meant more to me than you will ever truly know. Chaplain Manny Goes – always there when needed and always being a proud member of the Post. Tom Miller – Tom you have done a good job on the newsletter and helped us to get to a position that allows us to email the letter to many Legionnaires that frees up postage to mail newsletters to those veterans who haven’t joined. Bud Waite – Our Membership Chairman puts in a lot of personal time trying to bring in members and re-signing existing members. Thanks “Eugene”. Bud Shropeshire – Thanks for keeping us in line. You’ve forgotten more about those things essential to running the Post than many of us will ever know. Thank you.
John Wypyszinski, Mark Slayton, Ken Harris, Bill Surrette, and Darren Bean – the new leadership that will insure we don’t join Posts that are drying up due to the lack of interest. Thanks Guys – we appreciate your interest and willingness to get things done. Finally- a personal “Thank You” to Julius Rosen for inviting me to join the Post. If I left anybody out, believe me it is an oversight and not intentional.
