The Ceremony begins promptly at 11:00am with a moment of silence. This year on November 11th at 11:00am marks the 102nd anniversary of what was known as the Armistice which brought an end to World War 1. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the American Legion Post 208 in Millis by the residents who served in World War 1. Plus, two of the original members served in the Civil War and the Spanish American War.
This year’s observance is open to the public. Although the ceremony will be shorter and smaller than usual, it will not detract from paying tribute to all those who have served or are now serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Millis Memorial Day Parade Monday, May 27, 2019
The Millis Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27th, 2019. The Parade steps off at 9:00am from the 1st Congregational Church at Memorial Square. All Marches need to assemble by 8:45am in the Parking Lot of the Church. The Parade will proceed to the Prospect Hill Cemetery, then to the Millis Town Hall, and then will proceed to Memorial Square for the dedication ceremony, proclamation, musical performance and conclusion of the event. Participants will include the American Legion Post 208, Amvets Post 495, Millis Police and Fire Departments, Millis Selectmen, Millis Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Millis Girl Scouts, Daisies, Young Marines, Millis School Band and Charles River Choral. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Auditorium at the Millis High School.
The Master of Ceremonies will be Lawrence J McCarter , SMsgt ( USAF Ret. ) 1st Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 208. Sgt. At Arms: Robert Yeager, Commander of the American Legion Post 208. Every Thursday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The Post generally opens about 8:30 but most members start arriving around 9:00.
